A ‘Sounds ~ Write’ intervention programme ‘Sounds ~ Write’ linguistic phonic course

Social Skills Group
Social Skills – identified groups of up to 6 students who will work with a Senior TA on building their social skills. For example, students look at friendships, body language and building confidence.
EAL (English as an Additional Language)
Students are inducted into the College sensitively and are given support where required.
Early Morning Reading
Students are invited to Early Morning Reading sessions in Learning Support. These sessions provide one to one support with reading skills. Students are encouraged to read for understanding and complements work carried out with the English Department.
The Learning Support Department offer a full transition programme for identified students in Year 6 who require an enhanced package and work closely with primary colleagues to ensure the process is effective.
Touch Typing / Handwriting Classes
Teaching Assistants manage these classes which offer focussed support for handwriting skills to aid presentation and legibility.
Touch typing classes offer a programme which promotes speed typing skills.

Six Senior Teaching Assistants
There are 40 Teaching Assistants supporting students across the curriculum.
Teaching Assistants work across the curriculum supporting identified students in Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. They also work off site at Bicton and Exeter Colleges supporting students on vocational courses and on Outdoor Education days leading walking and climbing activities.
Teaching Assistants provide specific support in exams.
