What does the course involve?

This exciting visual subject focuses firstly on traditional darkroom processes, and then contemporary digital techniques using industry standard manipulation software. The course explores the technical aspects of the subject as well as its application as an art form, and considers the development of ideas from initial concept to final imagery.

Opportunities exist for students to produce portfolios for further education or employment within the industry, and visiting professionals will also be providing workshops and lectures throughout the course.

Work is displayed at the end of year in the Summer Exhibition.

Final grades are determined by:

Component 1: Personal Investigation and Contextual Study (60% of Total Marks)

Component 2: Externally Set Assignment: 15 Hours (40% of Total Marks)

What qualifications do I need?

Normal college requirements and preferably a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English, Maths and Science. Candidates will be selected following submission of a portfolio of photographs to the subject teachers.

“You have the freedom to express ideas through a medium other than Art.  The course is fun, there is so many (endless) options with what we can produce.  It’s a nice break from my other subjects.
