A Level  


This 2-year A-Level course is designed for students who want to build on their experience and knowledge of Design & Technology subjects (Graphics, Systems & Control, Resistant Materials, Industrial Technology) at GCSE.



The course:


The course covers a wide range of modern Design & Technology areas including:


Assessment:


Practical studies will take place with a variety of materials, modelling and construction techniques, including smart materials, 3D printing, polymers and composite materials.


1. Paper 1: Written exam "Core Technical Principles" - 2 hours, 25%

2. Paper 2: Written exam "Specialist Knowledge" - 2 hours, 25%

3. Non-Exam Assessment: Design & Make task - 45 hours, 50%


What can I use this qualification for?


Students gaining an A-Level in can use this qualification to apply to universities to study graphics, design or engineering courses, to apply for engineering apprenticeships, or to work in graphics, design or engineering fields.


Who would be interested in this subject?


Any student who is interested in Design & Technology at an advanced level and has an interest in pursuing a career in design, construction or engineering.

Normal College requirements apply but students must have gained a level 5 (C) or above in one of the following subjects:
