BTEC First Diploma(Level 2)

The BTEC First Diploma in Sport is a vocational course designed to give learners a basic grounding in understanding and knowledge of the sport and active leisure sector.  The course is designed to develop essential skills, techniques, personal skills and attributes required to achieve your goals, whether gaining employment, securing career progression, or progressing to further qualifications or higher education.

The course involves completing a variety of units that will include both theory and practical elements.  It will be assessed through coursework and two exams, allowing you the flexibility to demonstrate your knowledge in a variety of ways.

We also aim to provide you with the opportunity to complete additional sport related qualifications in order to help you gain employment.

What qualifications do I need and what can I do next?

For the First Diploma you will need a D grade at GCSE PE and a willingness to work both independently and with others, taking part in a variety of activities. If you achieve at least a merit you can progress to level 3 courses. Some students go on to other further education, apprenticeships or employment.
