Check out these websites.

The Careers Department caters for the needs of the students in a range of ways. The Department is located on the Gipsy Lane site next to the senior library.  The Careers area includes access to specialist software and a careers library of material for reference which include University prospectuses and information regarding the qualifications and training required for a vast range of careers.  The Careers Dept is actively involved in the promotion of enterprise education and supports a number of initiatives each year in the College to enable students to extend their understanding and experience. Students from yr8- yr 13 can also request an individual appointment with a careers south west advisor to discuss future options.

Key Stage Three

There is a Careers programme of study in Key Stage Three the scheme of work for which is written for teaching staff by the Careers Dept professionals. This leads to three progressive "passports".

The Careers Dept is also able to support students and advise them when they are making their Option Choices in Year 9.

Key Stage Four

The programme of study provided by the Careers Dept is aimed at equipping students for the next stage of their lives and includes letter writing, health and safety, skills evaluation, CV Clinics, careers searches and making choices for their Post 16 education or employment. A programme of talks are arranged for students, for example: the forces, Bicton, veterinary, engineering, the Police, rural careers, child care and more. One to one mentoring is available to all students from the careers department and careers south west staff.

The department also organises the very successful Community Cadets scheme for students in key stage four. There are weekly meetings/training which lead to a pass out parade with all the local services present. The cadets work closely with the Police and Fire Service and attend community events in a supportive role.

Post 16

The department provides guidance and support regarding UCAS applications, personal finance, pastoral care and apprenticeships.

Careers Fair

Every two years the College holds a major careers fair open to all our students, parents, carers and the community. The fair has over fifty stands and is an invaluable opportunity for students to help them clarify their possible future career path.
