KEY DATES & INFORMATION (Updated in view of re-arranged evening / weather warning)

Year 9 Progress Evening – 13th November 2024 

• An opportunity to talk to subject staff about your child’s progress and the possibility of further study in each of their current subjects. Parents/Carers and students will be invited into the College in a return to face-to-face meetings.  

• Progress reports will be emailed home at the end of the Autumn Term. 

 

Assemblies 
The GCSE curriculum will be explained to students through a series of assemblies. 

• 22nd November 2024 - Options Assembly with Mr Holt 

• 25th and 28th November 2024 - Non Key Stage 3 subject presentations  - see attachments below

• 2nd December 2024 - Follow-up Options Assembly with Mr Holt & Mrs Merry 

 

Year 9 Options Evening - rearranged from Wednesday 8th January to;

• Thursday 23rd January: 4:00pm to 7:00pm. This provides the opportunity for students, parents and carers to visit the college and discuss the KS4 subject courses and qualifications available for students to choose. All subjects will be located on the Green Close site – a map will be provided upon entry to Reception in The Elizabeth Lee Building (attached below). There will be presentations at 4:15pm, 5:15pm and at 6:30pm in the Elizabeth Lee Theatre, providing an overview of the options process. Please note there will NOT be an opportunity to visit subjects after the 6:30pm talk.

Options Form - updated to;

• A MS Forms link will be sent to Student College Email accounts on Thursday 23rd January at 4pm, and this must be completed before Wednesday 5th February 2025.

Student Interviews - updated to; 10th February 2025 – 14th February 2025 / 24th February 2025 - 28th February 2025

Each Year 9 student will have a 10-minute interview with their tutor, or another senior member of staff, at which they finalise and complete their options choices form. Parents are warmly invited to attend these appointments virtually via Parent-Bookings website. Details and Parent Booking appointments will be shared mid-January. 

Student Choice Confirmation – end of May 2025

Once ALL student choices have been made, work will begin on timetabling the choices to check for any clashes and the potential need for using the reserve choice. 

By the end of May, letters will be sent home detailing your child's subject offer for Year 10. 

After this date, any request to change option choices will need to be sent in writing by a parent or guardian to your child's Head of Year. Option changes are not normally allowed after the start of Year 10 in September.
