On Monday 27th January the RPE department took 23 Year 8 students into Exeter to join in the commemorations for Holocaust Memorial Day; this included an Opening Ceremony at Exeter Cathedral, a visit to the synagogue and then a visit to Southerhay Church to listen to some survivor stories of victims who experienced the Holocaust.
Students who were selected to go had been voted class winners for their Holocaust Memorial Projects, which once again this year were of an excellent standard with many thought-provoking pieces. Our students were a credit to the College and behaved exceptionally; showing their respect on such an important anniversary for this historical event.
It was very emotional especially when we were being told survivors stories. We also went to the synagogue which was very interesting and the Rabbi was very nice.
