Year 11 Results - 22nd August 2024

Following last week’s very strong Year 13 results, Year 11 students at Exmouth Community College have today been celebrating their GCSE results.

Over 65% of all grades achieved were at Grade 4 (equivalent to a C grade) or above and half of all grades were at Grade 5 or above.

There were a host of top performers. Top of the list was Sky Shute, who achieved the rare feat of achieving Grade 9s in all ten of her GCSEs.  Nathan Helman achieved five Grade 9s and five Grade 8s; Tom Lowrie achieved four Grade 9s and four Grade 8s; Izzy Markham achieved five Grade 9s, three Grade 8s and a Grade 7, and Eve Trice achieved four Grade 9s, four Grade 8s and two Grade 7s.

In total, 36 students achieved at least 5 or more grades of Grade 7 and above.

Headteacher, Tom Inman, commented, “This has been a pleasing set of results for us, showing real improvement across the school and, in some areas, our best results in many years. We have been so impressed with the resilience of our Year 11 cohort, whose secondary education has been considerably affected by the Covid pandemic. It is testament to their hard work and tenacity, but also a result of the leadership of our brilliant staff who have led them to such success. I’d also like to thank their parents for their unstinting support during what is a very intense period of their lives.

“A significant proportion of our young people will be returning to the ECC Sixth Form, which posted strong results last week. Whether they are staying with us, moving on to college or progressing to Apprenticeships, it’s hugely rewarding to see them move on with such a strong set of qualifications already in the bank. Congratulations to them and to those that are moving on to pastures new we wish them every future success and happiness.”
