Dance
Dance at Exmouth Community College has a long tradition of success, with exam results in Key Stage 4 and 5 far exceeding the national average. Students who engage in all the department has to offer, go on to succeed and thrive in their dance studies.
We offer a progression route for dance study at the College from GCSE through to A level, with an active enrichment programme that includes:
- Dance Academy
- Workshops with professional companies
- Careers advice
- Performance opportunities
- Theatre trips
- Seminars
Past students have gone on to study dance at prestigious vocational colleges and universities and embarked upon careers as dancers and choreographers. Many students have used their dance qualifications to access a wide range of other further and higher education opportunities such as physiotherapy, nutrition, physical education, musical theatre, arts management, teaching, English and Law.
The dance department at Exmouth Community College aims to nurture creativity and collaboration, whilst developing physical and technical skills in a range of dance styles. Students are encouraged to think intellectually about their own choreography and learn how to analyse and appreciate professional dance works.
