What will I study?
This 2-year A-Level course is designed for students who want to build on their experience and knowledge of Design & Technology subjects at GCSE. It is an exciting course that allows students to develop their practical skills and work with a wide range of materials to develop design solutions to briefs.
The course covers a wide range of modern Design & Technology areas including: Materials and Applications, Product Development and Improvement, Design Illustration and Communication, CAD/CAM and Modelling, Modern Manufacturing Techniques, Enterprise, Marketing and Intellectual Property.
Practical studies will take place with a variety of materials, modelling and construction techniques, including smart materials, 3D printing, polymers and composite materials.
This course is suitable for any student who is interested in Design & Technology at an advanced level and has an interest in pursuing a career in design, construction or engineering.
What can I do with it?
Students gaining an A-Level in Design & Technology: Product Design can use this qualification to apply to universities to study graphics, design or engineering courses, to apply for engineering apprenticeships, or to work in graphics, design or engineering fields.
