Dungeons and Dragons Society
Dungeons and Dragons is a role-playing game that involves small groups working together to create a collaborative shared story, using imagination and a bit of dice rolling. It’s a wildly popular activity amongst those that enjoy fantasy or sci-fi, and is excellent at allowing players to build their skills in teamwork, problem-solving and creative thinking, as well as numeracy, literacy and leadership in a fun and silly environment. We meet every Wednesday after school, and the only equipment required is some pencils, paper and an open mind; everything else is provided.
DnD has always been known as the thing nerds play, but beneath the surface is a lot more than one would expect. It encourages a lot of creative writing such as an English lesson would, and it gets those moody teenagers out and more sociable with people they play with. It also just lets you be as silly and stupid as you like, and allows you to come up with all kinds of creative or plain dumb ideas to make everyone else wonder how they hadn't thought of that, or have a laugh at the sheer absurdity. The people in this group are also very inviting, and Sam that runs it is very good at giving new players the rundown, so whether you're a new player or have played a long time, you'll never feel too out of place here.
